Imphal, July 24 2009:
A bus waiting shed and sign board of Slopeland Public School, Khongjom (Thoubal district) were pulled apart by an agitated mob even as the district police took into custody four persons, including the school's Vice Principal in connection with the mysterious death of a boarder.
The student identified as one Gurumayum Chittaranjan alias Boboi sharma (14) son of G Gourachandra of Tekcham Mamang Leikai was a class X student of the school.

According to information received by the press, Chittaranjan enrolled in the School in the previous academic session and had been staying at the hostel for the last two months.
After frantic searches at medical centres, family members discovered Chittaranjan's body at a dark corner of Thoubal District Hospital late last night.
Family members today informed mediapersons at RIMS morgue premises that Chittaranjan had on July 22 intimated of being unwell (sick) to the hostel warden.
They further contended that at about 6.30 pm yesterday, family members of Chittaranjan were contacted regarding his admission to a private medical clinic located in Wangjing area before another information was conveyed of the sick student brought to RIMS Hospital.
As enquiry at RIMS Hospital drew blank, contact was re-established on the informer's mobile phone who reportedly told the family members that Chittaranjan is being treated at the Thoubal District Hospital.
With none in attendance, Chittaranjan was found in a non-illuminated room, they maintained while speculating that owing to alleged negligence of the school authorities, Chittaranjan might have succumbed before receiving any medical attention.
The four persons pulled up by a team of Kakching police have been identified as Vice Principal cum chief warden of Slopeland Public School Wangkheimayum Modhuchandra (33) son of W Munal of Langthabal Khunou; warden Asem Basanta (40) son of Thouba of Thoubal Athokpam; staff nurse Leibakleima devi (32) w/o Basanta; and Loitongbam Lalit (38) s/o Birachandra of Taobungkhok.
Apparently holding the School authorities of negligence that resulted in Chittaranjan's untimely demise, a large number of people stormed the school at around 9 am today and pulled down the school's bus waiting shed and signboard.
Upon hearing information regarding the incident anxious parents re-claimed custody of their respective wards from the school's boarding/hostel.
It is informed that additional security reinforcement from Thoubal district headquarters rushed to the trouble spot and fired a few rounds in the air to control the agitated mob.
While a public meeting has been convened tomorrow to deliberated on the incident, body of Chittaranjan has been claimed from RIMS morgue to conduct the last rites.
