Imphal, August 22:
Backing the move of MP Mani Charenamei and the six MLAs in submitting a memorandum to the Prime Minister demanding integration of Naga dominated areas, the United Naga Council (UNC) asserted that the six Naga MLAs have every right to speak for 'their people' both inside and outside the Assembly.
UNC publicity secretary S Milan said that the Naga people elected their representatives and the legislators have unfettered rights to voice the people's aspiration.
"It is very clear that the common stance of the Nagas is to unite together under a single administrative unit", said Milan while justifying the memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister for Naga integration.
Claiming that all the Nagas are behind the MP and MLAs, he said the memorandum was submitted on behalf of all Nagas.
If there is any attempt by any NGO or individual to victimise the six MLAs socially or politically, the Nagas will not remain silent, he informed.
"We have our history and it cannot be manipulated by any element and based on our ancestral roots, we the Nagas are bound to unite together", asserted the UNC executive.
Respecting each others' aspirations while simultaneously working for the cause of the respective community and land is also one of the agenda of the Nagas, Milan elaborated.
He said since history speaks itself the Nagas will continue their struggle no matter how long it will take to realise their long cherished dream.
On being asked, Milan said UNC is still going on with its non-cooperation movement against Manipur Government though no specific programme has been taken up at the moment.
