Working as a nurse in Vinayak Hospital, Delhi, Langailu Pamei was staying along with a younger sister who is mentally challenged in B-186, Ground floor, Gandhi Vihar, Delhi-59 .
It was only after her younger sister reported to the Zeliangrong Students' Union at Delhi that it was known that Langailu Pamei had been missing since May 13 .
Along with searching for the missing girl, the volunteers of Zeliangrong Students' Union approached the Delhi police to lodge a complaint in this regard only to learn that the body of Langailu Pamei which was recovered from the Ridge area of Rajpur Civil Lines on May 15 had been disposed off as an unclaimed body on May 19 .
The identity of Langailu Pamei could be established from the photograph of the body that had been disposed off as unclaimed.
It was also known from that photograph that Langailu Pamei had a slit mark on her throat.
Suspicious over the manner in which she was found dead, a Joint Action Committee christened as Joint Action Committee Against Brutal Killing of Langailu Pamei has been formed during a joint meeting of the Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland), Zeliangrong Youth Front, Zeliangrong Students' Union, Kabui Mothers' Association and Zeliangrong Cultural Council held at Namdulong Youth Club here today.
Talking to mediapersons later during the day, spokesman of the JAC Dr S Xavier Pamei said that death of Langailu Pamei was learnt when the Zeliangrong Students' Union, Delhi passed on the message on May 20 .
To ensure investigation of the incident and punish the culprits, the JAC would be exerting pressure on the Government of India and the Government of Manipur, the spokesman said, adding that life of the Northeast people in Delhi is not safe anymore.
A joint agitation by all the civil society in Manipur would be initiated to ensure safety and security of the North east people in the National capital, the spokesperson, adding that pressure would also be exerted on the Government of India and the Government of Manipur to compensate the bereaved family as well as punish the killers.
Even if the body of Langailu Pamei could not be claimed in time, the last customary rites of the deceased would be performed at her native birth place with her cloths, the spokesman informed.
Meanwhile, Liangmai Naga Council, Manipur and Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur have expressed shock and condemnation over the incident and called for exemplary punishments to the culprits so as to ensure such incidents do not recur.
While praying for peace to the departed soul, the two social organisations have also shared the grief of the bereaved family.
