Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has said that using of two wheelers and mobile phones at school campus, coaching centres and tuition centres by the students who are upto higher secondary level will be banned from November 10 .
A press release issued by its Publicity and Propaganda Secretary LC Bobicha said that use of mobile phones and two wheelers instill the the sense of poor and rich amongst students.
The trend has also become one of the reasons for developing immoral activities among the students.
Instead of making competition in studies, many students are enganged in insisting their parents to buy such costly items, it added.
Saying that different models of costly mobile phones are being used by young students at schools, colleges, tuition and coaching centres, the press release said that video clips which may create illicit activities are being shared amongst the students through Bluetooth.
In order to check such habits which may degrade the moral of young students, DESAM has decided to ban use of mobile phones and two wheelers by the students who are upto higher secondary level from November 10, it said.
The students body also urged the parents, school authorities, social bodies and general public to cooperate with the endeavour.
