Chiefs of different villages belonging to Ukhrul AC and a large number of political workers have resolved to ask MLA Danny Shaiza to contest the forthcoming 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections under a Congress ticket.
A joint meeting of village chiefs and political workers was held today at Eagle High School campus, Nagaram today.
MLA Danny Shaiza and other eminent leaders were present at the meeting as presidium members.
Speaking at the meeting which was moderated by Kayangnam Zimik, village chiefs and political workers coming from 52 polling stations of Ukhrul AC explained and lauded the works done by MLA Danny Shaiza for the welfare of his constituency.
The speakers, after observing that Danny Shaiza being an independent MLA encountered certain difficulties while working for welfare and development of the people, opined that it would be in the best interest of all if Danny Shaiza contest the forthcoming elections under the ruling Congress party ticket.

Danny recalled that he won the 2000 elections under BJP ticket and as an independent candidate in 2007 elections.
He also conceded that he could not take up many programmes which he envisioned for the welfare of his constituency on account of being an independent MLA.
Danny Shaiza said that he would contest the forthcoming Assembly elections on a Congress ticket as per the wish of the people.
He also sought the cooperation of the people of Ukhrul AC.
The meeting which was attended by around 500 people including chiefs of 11 Kuki villages unanimously resolved to field him as a Congress candidate.
