At least Rs 12 crores have been already sanctioned for developing the INA Complex and other tourist spots of Moirang to the international level.
This was stated by Chief Minister O Ibobi while inaugurating the newly constructed market sheds of Moirang Thoibi Keithel and Awun Keithel today which are closely associated with the history and legend of the land.
Addressing the inaugural function at INA Hall Moirang as chief guest, Ibobi stated that Moirang is well known not only in India but also abroad for its close association with the history of the INA.
To develop Moirang and the surrounding areas as tourist hotspots is a goal of the SPF Government, he said.

To the State Government's proposal to take up a mega project for developing Loktak Lake, Keibul Lamjao and other areas of Moirang as tourist centres of international standard at the cost of Rs 25 crores, the Tourism Ministry, Government of India has already sanctioned Rs 12 crores in the first phase.
The tourism project would be included in the inauguration programme of Sonia Gandhi and the Tourism Minister who would visiting the State within the current month.
To protect this natural gift called Moirang, the Loktak Protection Force has been set up.
Moreover, demarcation and development works are being taken up to restore these areas to their natural beauty, stated the Chief Minister.
The Government of India is taking serious view of the protective measures and development works being taken up the preserve Keibul Lamjao which is the only floating national park in the world.
Stating that hovercrafts to be deployed in Loktak Lake would be brought to Manipur by December, Ibobi highlighted the importance of public cooperation in protection and development of Loktak Lake.
Efforts are also being made to upgrade the road from Moirang Lamkhai to Sendra as a four-lane road.
Ibobi further appealed to land owners likely to be affected by the road expansion to cooperate with the Government in consideration for posterity.
The Chief Minister also released a booklet about the development works being taken up and planned to be taken in the near future by the Moirang Municipal Council.
The inaugural function was also attended by MLA M Prithiviraj, Works Minister K Ranjit, MLA T Mangibabu, MLA Dr Kh Loken and former MLA of Moirang A/C S Gopal as presidium members.
