Senior BJP leader LK Advani, who is being projected as the Prime Ministerial candidate by the BJP is scheduled to arrive in Manipur in the last week of March to campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha election while on the other hand the Congress is likely to announce the name of its candidates on March 5. Talking to this reporter, co-convenor of the State BJP media cell, Laimayum Basanta Sharma said that the Central leaders of the party have already asked the State unit to fix a date which would be convenient for Advani to visit the State and campaign.
The BJP which has already named former Chief Minister W Nipamacha as its candidate in the Inner Parliamentary Constituency has also assured that if he is elected, then he would be inducted in the Union Council of Ministers as a Cabinet Minister.
Significantly, Th Chaoba, while he was with the MSCP was also inducted into the Council of Ministers as a Minister of State, as the MSCP was then a partner of the BJP led NDA Govt.The BJP leadership gave the assurance to induct Nipamacha into the Council of Ministers taking into consideration his clean image as well as political experience, said Basanta Sharma.
The BJP�s campaign in the Inner seat is likely to be kicked off during the visit of Advani, said Sharma and added that Mahilas and Yuva Morchas have started house to house campaigning.
To work out an effective campaign for the BJP candidate, a one day BJP leaders'political camp will be conv ened at the party�s office at Imphal on March 7, further said Basanta.
The BJP is also set to announce the name of its candidate for the Outer Parliamentary seat after March 5, said Basanta and added that ten aspirants have submitted their credentials seeking the party�s ticket.
On the other hand the MPP, which has announced the name of Professor N Mohendro as its candidate in the Inner Parliamentary seat has decided not to field a candidate in the Outer seat.
Meanwhile the Congress is waiting the final word from the high command on its candidates.
