Intensifying their ceasework strike launched since October 30 in protest against the failure of the Government to clear the pending salary of the teachers for the past 6 months, Council of Teachers' Association (COTA) would be taking out a mass rally on November 10 to press the demand for making education a free zone.
Addressing a press conference in this connection at the office of All Manipur Elementary School Teachers' Association (AMESTA) at Modhu Girls' Junior High School here today, convenor of COTA P Koireng recalled that an MoU had been signed with the Government of Manipur to the effect of clearing the pending six months' salary of the teachers.
However, no order has been issued till date in this regard, he lamented, adding that denial of salary to the teachers for the past 6 months has caused lot for difficulties.
In protest against this apathetic attitude of the Government, the teachers have launched a ceasework strike since October 30, Koireng informed, adding that the cease strike work began from Bheirodan Maxwell Hindi Primary School.
As a part of ongoing cease work strike, campaign would be launched at Zone-II AMESTA office hall on November 2, at Wangoi AMESTA hall on November 3, at Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School for Thoubal Zone-III on November 4 and at Bishnupur and Moirang AMESTA office hall on November 5, he announced.
Koirang further informed that a mass rally would be taken out on November 10 to press the demand for making education a free zone.
To be organised under the aegis of Co-ordination Committee on Free Education Zone, the rally would be flagged off from THAU ground, Thangmeiband and concluded at Khuman Lampak Main stadium, he added.
