The two-day working on the role of Core group for the formation of State Core group towards effective implementation of the ' Coalition on Children's Right to Protection' (CCPR) which was underway at Youth Hostel, Khuman Lampak concluded today.
The workshop was organised under the aegis of Manipur Mahila Kalyan Samiti.
Speaking at the valedictory function, Deputy Manager of Child Rights and You (CRY) Satya Gopal De observed that effective implementation of Coalition on Children's Rights to Protection (CCRP), a programme specially launched by CRY is essential to ensure the protection of the rights of every children.
The CCPR programme was introduced on March 1, 2005 and so far it has been adopted in 11 States of the country.
So there is the urgent need for formation of a State Core group in Manipur for implementation of the same at the earliest possible.
The Core Committee would comprise of social activists, representatives of NGOs, media persons, officials of Social Welfare and other individuals.
The CCPR programme was earlier implemented as QIC &AC which stands for Quality Institutional Care and Alternative for Children and the programme encourage adoption and rehabilitation of destitute children by the community, Satya Gopal De said.
Angshem Tontang who had come all the way from Chandel district to participate in the workshop maintained that implementation of CCPR programme would be very useful in Manipur.
There are many children in Chandel and Saikul area who have been affected by the ethnic clashes and armed conflict and they need protection.
These destitute children should be given protection under CCPR, Tontang said.
