Imphal, November 13:
The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) and other civil organisations like the All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMWOVA), Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur (PLMPAM), AMESCO, and MEPWAK have made all preparations to launch a year long campaign for unity, development and peace all over Manipur.
Speaking to media persons at the office of AMUCO, the convenor of the organising committee of the unity campaign Yangsoso Koireng informed that the campaign would set off on November 18 at THAU ground.
He also appealed to all social organisations and individuals of the State to make the campaign which aims at promoting peace, development and unity among all the community and ethnic groups all over Manipur a success.
The campaign with its slogans like, "Let's live together", "Let's protect the State together", "Let's unite together with a sense of oneness", "Let's unite under the bond of love" and "Let's march towards progress together" would be carried to every nook and cranny of Manipur for which necessary sub-committees have also been constituted.
Member of the organising committee MC Khuman disclosed that efforts are being made to rope in Manipuris settled outside the State in the unity campaign.
Observing that peace and unity reigned among all the ethnic groups of the State before its merger with India and the relationships among the peoples of Manipur have become somewhat strained after the merger, Khuman stressed on the necessity to realise the collective objective of the society and to propel the State to the path of development through extensive discussions and sharing of thoughts.
Taking part in the press meet, human right activist Phulindro Konsam noted that all the peoples of Manipur have been rendered helpless but to face the brunt of the divisive policy and other diabolic conspiracies hatched by the Government of India.
He remarked that any draconian Act repealed from the State would be replaced by more atrocious Acts.
Co-convenor of the organising committee Memtombi appealed to all the people of Manipur to join and support the campaign aimed at bringing peace, unity and equal development in every part of Manipur.
