The Secretary of the State Transport Authority Manipur T Sitlhou today urged all the passenger services/ bus owners to use printed tickets for all passenger services which was introduced after revision of passengers fare and freight on 3/12/2001.He said it has been found that most of the, Societies/Associations have not used ticket against non use of ticket system in all passenger buses and has started imposing of fine and take further action as deemed fit under MV Act and Rules.
He appealed to all passenger vehicle owners to start using ticket with immediate effect in public interest to avoid any penalties which may be imposed under MV Act and Rules and all commuters are informed to insist issue of tickets while boarding passenger buses/ vehicles so as to make the new ticket system successful.
Kh Gunamani DIO Imphal West said his office started checking of vehicles including buses on road in addition to the normal checks on vehicles.
The office realized Rs 2000 from 20 buses plying on NH 39 on January 7 for not issuing tickets to the passengers traveling in the buses.
Upto 31 Dec 2002 the office had realized Rs 7,55,620 from vehicles for violation of MV Acts and Rules he said.
All passengers entering and remaining in any bus for the purpose of traveling therein should accompany a proper ticket for payment of fare for the journey to the conductor or the driver of the bus he said.
Violation of the above shall be liable to impose penalty of Rs 100 per passenger.
