Police today detained at least 17 womenfolk who attempted to stormed the Assembly complex while the sitting was in progress demanding judicial probe into the shooting incident at crowded market area on July 23 that killed two including a young housewife and injured to five others.
Around 100 womenfolk marched towards the Assembly complex from the Khwairamband market area today at about 11.15 am.
Police blocked them before heading towards the Assembly road.
Police detained 17 of them.
Later speaking at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club, Major Khul, members of the Nupi Marup who were behind the attempt to storm the Assembly, womenfolk reiterating the demand for judicial probe into the shoot out incident said that government should do it positively so that people could know the fact behind the incident.
We want to know the bullet that hit Rabina and killed him belongs to undergrounds or police.
But government is trying to conceal it, they alleged.
They also claimed that many people witnessed police commandos opening firing from the Flyover side.
Further alleging that Ibobi's government killed people in a merciless manner, they alleged police commandos of the state as terrorists and government for remaining silent when state forces performed terror acts to the people.
In such situation where police commandos fired indiscriminately even in the crowded areas without caring of hurting people, women venders in the market areas are feeling apprehension on seeing them in the market area, they said.
They further alleged that the act of the police commandos was a part of hidden policy of the government and chief minister is not care of the life of the civilians have been shown by the act.
In order to check repetition of such incident and Ibobi's government care of the life of the civilians, government should conduct judicial enquiry into the fact and circumstances leading to the firing in the crowded area, the demanded.
The also demanded unconditional released of the womenfolk detained by the police by 11 am of tomorrow.
Otherwise, womenfolk will launch court arrest agitation, they announced.
