DGP of Manipur AK Parashar, IPS (MT: 74) has been placed under compulsory wait and Managing Director of Manipur Police Corporation Y Joykumar, IPS (MT:76) has been assigned to look after the works of DGP in addition to his current assignment until regular arrangements are made in this regard.
The Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (Personnel Division) issued an order in this connection yesterday.
The order came into effect with immediate effect from yesterday.
While assuming the charge of DGP, Joykumar has assured that he would try his best to enhance co-operation between the police and the people apart from improving the law and order situation in the State.
Besides holding various important posts of the Police Department, Joykumar was among the six police officers of India who have undergone counter-insurgency training at Northern Ireland in 1993.From 1994 to 1996, he was posted in the capacity of DIG BSF at Kashmir and as Deputy Director (Administration) in BSF Headquarters from 1996-1999.He had also received commendation of the DG, BSF.
While he was in charge of IG (Administration), BSF for one year, Joykumar was also given the responsibility of finding out the equipments required for the services at western border.
Joykumar is the third native of the State to occupy the police top post.
Earlier, Jugeshore and Bimol served as the DG of the State Police.
