Accusing the Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur of marginalising and discriminating the ZSU-Tamei Area, the executive members of the Zeliangrong Students' Union, Tamei Area have resigned en-masse from the ZSUM today.
In a statement, the Area secretary of ZSU Tamei Area said that altogether 13 executive members including the convenor of the ZSU-TA have resigned from the ZSUM, which is otherwise the parent body.
Explaining the reason for the mass resignation, the statement said that the move has been prompted by the fact that ZSUM has marginalised and discriminated the Tamei Area of the ZSU.
The convenor of the ZSU-TA who is also the vice chairman of the Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur has also resigned from the post of the vice chairman, added the statement.
Meanwhile the Village Authority Chairman Council, Tamenglong has suggested that the construction of the New Kaiphundai to Tousem and Tamei to Tamenglong road should be entrusted to the State PWD which is the final authority.
In a statement, the VACC said that the personal visit by the Works Minister and the initiatives taken up by him for smooth and timely completion of developmental works in the district is timely and reassuring.
The ZSUM needs to reconsider its demand that the New Kaiphundai-Tousem road and Tamei-Tamenglong road should be handed over to the BRO, said the statement and added that the Tamenglong-Tousem-Haflong road may be entrusted to the BRO as it deals with major works of State Highways and National Highways.
