As none of the seven candidates who have filed their nomination papers to contest the Inner Lok Sabha seat withdrew their candidatures till the last day of withdrawing their nomination papers today, the stage is finally set for a septet-fight in the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency which would go to poll on April 22 .
The seven candidates who are in the fray for the Inner seat are Dr Th Meinya of Congress Party, Dr M Nara of CPI, Th Chaoba of MPP, W Nipamacha of BJP, L Kshetrani of Rashtriya Bahujan Congress Party and two Independent candidates Abdul Rahman and Nongmaithem Homendro.
Meanwhile, to oversee preparedness of the election to be held on April 16 and April 22 respectively, Election Commissioner SR Quraisi and Dy EC Dr Alok Shukla will arrive here on a two day visit from Aizawl tomorrow.
Upon arrival, the two ECI officials would call on the Governor, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) and DGP.
Upon their arrival at Imphal, the two officials of the Election Commission of India would call on the Governor besides holding a joint meeting with the Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) and DGP at the conference hall of the Old Secretariat.
While at Imphal, they would also meet the leaders of the political parties and the media.
The two officials of the Election Commission would leave Imphal for Dimapur in the morning of April 10 .
