International professional Manipuri Diaspora group launched

The Knowledge Exchange Network (KEN), an international professional diaspora group was launched on July 26 last in Boston, Massachusetts.
Dr.Irengbam Mohendra Singh, Ajit Thokchom, Lakshmikant Laikangbam and Kelvin Ashem have been elected as President, Vice President, General Secretary and Finance Secretary of the group respectively.
The group organised a video-linked convention with special focus on Information Technology (IT) and Tourism on July 27 at the Hilton Hotel, Boston.
Local and overseas dignitaries, international corporate houses and social organisations attended the convention.
Delivering the keynote address of the convention from Imphal through an online video link, Manipur Chief Minister O.Ibobi Singh welcomed and praised the endeavour of this newly formed organisation.
Highlighting various governmental programmes of Manipur Government, the Chief Minister sought active contributions from Manipuri NRIs towards building a strong and developed Manipur.
The newly elected President of KEN, Dr.Irengbam Mohendra expressed his confidence that KEN will be able to do just that.
During the audio-video link conference, Principal Secretary for Information Technology, Government of Manipur, Rajesh Kumar encouraged the gathering at Boston by giving an lucid power-point presentation on the present available opportunities.
He also enumerated the various future plans of the state related to IT in relevant fields and invited Manipuri diaspora to contribute to Manipur's developments with their experience and innovative skills.
Dr.Dhabali, President of Manipur Tourism Forum, MTF, while making a power point presentation on lucrative tourism opportunities in Manipur, highlighted various plans of the Tourism Forum in Manipur.
The historic event in Boston was also attended by NRIs from other Indian communities from various professional backgrounds.
At Imphal, the occasion was attended by Deputy CM Gaikhangam, Education Minister M.Okendro Singh, PHED Minister Irengbam Hemochandra Singh, Additional Chief Secretary O.Nabakishore Singh and other civil servants.
The convention was closed with a vote of thanks from Senior Advisor of KEN Dhrita Kumar from Boston.
Initiated by three non-resident Manipuris with the main objective of creating employment and enhancing economic progress in Manipur, the Knowledge Exchange Network was conceived in the year 2011 .
