Vector borne diseases discussed in Meet

Imphal, March 27 2015 :
Manipur State Health Society (MSHS) under National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) organized a one-day Intersectoral Meeting on Prevention and Control of Vector Borne Diseases at the Youth Hostel conference hall, Khuman Lampak on Friday.
Additional Director of Health Services Dr S Manikanta Singh, Regional Director (ROH & FW) Government of India Dr L Ashananda Singh and State Nodal Officer NVBDCP, Manipur Dr T Zamkhokam Kuki attended the meeting as chief guest, guest of Honour and president respectively.
Addressing the participants, Dr S Manikanta said that vector borne diseases like malaria, dengue and Japanese Encephalitis have seriously threatened the country.
The Government of India has taken up various measures to control these diseases by embracing them in the health policy of the country.
Manikanta further said even if Manipur has recorded fewer cases of vector borne disease, the State is still at high risk because this malady is highly prevalent in the neighboring States.
Representatives from various Government Departments were also took part in the meeting.
