GOC Corps distributes aids to remote people

Imphal, December 12 2013:
16 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) distributed solar street lights under Military Civic Action Programme (Op Sadbhavana) to Pukhao village in Imphal East district and furniture and books to Maokot Chepu Govt School in Ukhrul district under 'OP Samaritan' .
The solar street lights, furniture and various books were handed over by Lt Gen S L Narasimhan, AVSM, VSM, GOC 3 Corps to the villagers on 11 Dec 2013 in the presence of Maj Gen Rajeev Chopra, IG AR (South) in a ceremony organised at Somsai Garrison.
The ceremony was attended by the respective GBs alongwith the villagers of Pukhao village, school teachers alongwith students of Maokot Chepu Govt School in large number.
The helping and developing efforts of the Assam Rifles were applauded by the villagers of Pukhao village and Maokot Chepu who were happy to receive the solar street lights, furniture and various books, PRO IGAR (S) said in a statement.
The GOC 3 Corps assured the villagers that Assam Rifles will continue in its endeavour to provide every possible assistance to the villagers for development in the region, the PRO added.
