State farmers meet PM, submit memorandum

The State farmers under the aegis of Manipur Loumee Marup met Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and submitted a 10-point memorandum at his Parliament House Office in New Delhi today.
The delegation of State farmers was led by President of All India Kisan Sabha and Member of Parliament Pramod Panda.
General Secretary of Manipur Loumee Marup H Ibobi, General Secretary of All India Kisan Sabha Atul Kumar Anand, General Secretary of AITUC Manipur L Sotinkumar, President of Manipur Nupi Marup M Sakhi and Yumnam Jiban were also part of the delegation.
A 10-point memorandum of Manipur Loumee Marup jointly signed by its President N Mangi and General Secretary H Ibobi was also submitted to the Prime Minister during the meeting.
Among others the demands mentioned in the memorandum included payment of appropriate compensation to farmers affected by Loktak Project, giving monthly pension of Rs.3000 to farmers, implementation of Inner Line Permit System in Manipur, repeal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act and proper implementation of Public Distribution Scheme in the State.
