One-day blood donation cum awareness camp was held today at Government Ideal Blind School, Takyel under the aegis of Manipur AIDS Control Society (MACS), Regional Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) and Punshi Sintha Selg Help Group Home for the Blind, Takyel.
Twenty disabled students have participated in the blood donation camp.
The general secretaryof Punshi Sintha SHG Home for the Blind, Premjit has also donated blood for the 35th time.
The camp was attended by H Binodini, headmistress of Government Ideal Blind School, Takyel and president of Students' Welfare Association, Dr W Nabachandra as the chief guest and president respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, H Binodini hailed the gesture of the disabled students in donating blood.
Resource person of the day, Dr K Raj Chandra of RIMS Blood Bank, said there is no health hazard for healthy persons in donating blood.
He said, persons can donate blood from 18 years to 50 years for 168 times.
The only provision is that the person should be healthy and free from illness.
He said, whether a person is infected with HIV/AIDS could also be detected while participating in such blood donation camp.
The most precious gift is donating blood for the needy.
They are saving the lives of many disadvantaged people.
