A protest rally was taken out to oppose the inclusion of Lei-Ingkhol village within the ambit of the proposed Capitol Project followed by a public meeting wherein the protestors resolved to exert pressure on the Government to choose another site which is acceptable to all.
Organised under the aegis of Joint Action Committee Against the Eviction of Lei-Ingkhol, the protest rally was flagged off from Lei-Ingkhol with representatives of many State and National level organisations as well as local bodies taking part in the demonstration.
The rallyists also carried placards and banners with inscriptions like Save Lei-Ingkhol from Capitol Project, Review decision to evict Lei-Ingkhol residents, etc and proceeded till Thangmeiband Lilashing Khongnangkhong.
After the rally, a public meeting was held at Lei-Ingkhol, where the congregation strongly denounced the decision of the Government to evict the residents of Lei-Ingkhol who have been settled in the area for more than 50 years.
