North East in-charge, Secretary of the Election Commission of India SK Rudolp arrived here today in connection with a complaint on manipulation of electronic voting machines in the constituencies of Ukhrul district during the Assembly elections of 2007 .
The manipulation of EVM complaint was filed through RTI Act by one Nilesh Mishra of New Delhi.
Mentioning that 41 EVMs were kept in the godown of Ukhrul DC, the complainant sought information as to under what arrangements the EVMs were kept in the godown.
The ECI Secretary together with State Election officials will personally inspect the EVMs being kept in the DC's godown tomorrow.
Notably, EVMs were first introduced in Manipur during the general elections of 2007.On the day of the elections, nine EVM control units and four ballot control units were damaged either due to snatching or vandalisation by unidentified miscreants.
The ECI Secretary would also review the process of elector photo identity cards in the State.
The Secretary visited Loktak lake and INA memorial complex today.
