A Joint Action Committee christened JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Thokchom Rabina was constituted during a public meeting held at Lamsang Praja High School ground today.
The meeting resolved to submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanding a Judicial enquiry into the killing/death of Rabina.
Decrying the killing of Rabina, a large number of people blocked Uripok-Kangchup road in between Iroishemba and Lamsang Keithel.
Quoting eye-witnesses report which said that Raveena was killed by a bullet fired by commandos, the meeting demanded stringent action against the commandos involved in the firing.
The JAC would be submitting a memorandum to the Chief Minister tomorrow demanding judicial enquiry and punishment of the commandos involved in the incident.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, JAC secretary Ch Somorjit said that necessary preparations would be made to launch intense forms of agitation and the corpse of Raveena would not be claimed in case the Chief Ministers fails to a give a positive response to the demands of the people.
The corpse of Raveena is still lying at RIMS morgue unclaimed.
Taking part in the press meet, bereaved husband of Raveena, Thokchom Chinglensana appealed to all concerned to avert such incidents in future.
He also condemned the incident.
Meanwhile, another JAC has also been constituted against the killing of Chungkham Sanjit of Khurai Sajor Leikai by the Meira Paibis of Sajor Leikai, Chingangbam Leikai, Ningthoubung Leikai and Laishram Leikai and Netaji Memorial Club.
Contending that Sanjit was killed in cold blood after rounding him up, the JAC Against the Killing of Chungkham Sanjit has demanded a Judicial enquiry into the killing.
Asserting levelling accusations posthumously cannot be accepted, the JAC demanded befitting punishment involved in the killing of Sanjit.
Decrying the alleged indiscriminate firing in busy public places, the JAC urged upon the Government to discipline the commandos at the earliest.
The JAC further cautioned that various forms of agitation would be launched in case its demands are not fulfilled in the next few days.
