Fire broke out at Patsoi Bazar opposite to Nilo Oil Filling Station this evening has caused extensive damage not only to the shops that started catching fire but also in the nearby structures this evening.
The fired reported broke out from one of the four shops this evening at about 5.30 pm.
The burnt down shops belongs to one Keisham Birjit who rented to others.
Shops deal mostly with cigarettes and other tobacco products apart from storing patrol in black.
The fire spread to the neighbouring structures with the explosion of of LPG cylinders stored in the shops.
By the spreading fire, three rooms at the ground floor of a house and a hotel neighbouring were also burnt down.
The fire also caused damaged to some rooms including computer room of the Sub-Deputy Collector, Patsoi apart from some rooms of the Baby Montessori School.
Some documents in the SDC office stored at the burnt down rooms have been turn into ashes, reports said.
A boy of 18 year identified as Soram Kola collapse on seeing the high up flame.
He has been evacuated at RIMS hospital.
Another person identified as Yengkhom Leibakmacha who involved in the dousing effort of the fire sustained burnt injury.
Even though information was passed to the fire service station, they arrived at the spot around half an hour delay, locals said.
But with the efforts of the locals, the fire was put under control before spreading to other structures.
