Imphal, April 15 2011:
The Manipur Students' Association Delhi (MSAD) has strongly condemned the alleged racial attack on three members of a family belonging to Hmar community of Manipur residing at Munirka, New Delhi by some local people on April 12 .
It was a manifestation of the racism deeply ingrained among mainland Indians towards the people of North East, the MSAD alleged in a press release.
It informed that one of the victims who are currently undergoing treatment is critically injured.
Although such inhumane acts have been a daily experience for the North Easterners in the capital city, the law enforcing agencies always remain indifferent.
Many of the racial oriented and sexual harassment cases were twisted by police as ploy to defend the culprits, and in several cases they refused to register even FIRs.
The MSAD further called upon all the students and civil organisations from the North East and other democratic bodies elsewhere who believe in progressive movements to join hands in fighting against racial discrimination.
