Imphal, November 10 2010:
Expressing deep concern over the rising trend of setting up armed groups by taking on the name of an already existing one, the KCP (MC) has stated that such a trend has besmirch the movement to restore the 'sovereignty' of the land.
The KCP (MC) came into being solely because of the brutal manner in which eight senior cadres of the KCP were executed.
The execution was against all the provisions of International Humanitarian Law and what is more the mortal remains of the executed persons were never handed over to their respective family members, said the outfit in a statement issued by the Publicity and Information Secretary Paikhomba.
Today situation has come to such a pass that the public loathe the very name of either the KCP or the KCP (MC), said the statement and added that realisation of one's cultural ethos is an important factor in taking the revolutionary movement ahead.
It is important to analyse the factors which India have used to keep the people of Manipur under their thumb said the outfit and added that before coming to the economic factor, one has to take into consideration the different methods used by India.
This includes ideological warfare, cultural warfare, medical warfare, educational warfare, religious warfare, psychological warfare, economic warfare etc.
Operation Mangal (Leading light) will face the challenges at hand and make the people realise that as long as they are not self reliant, have no sense of belonging and are submerged in the materialistic world, they can never become conscious of their true self.
It is only when this consciousness dawns on everyone that the revolution will succeed, said the statement.
It is also important that people realise the true worth of one's culture and that it is a gift given by the forefathers.
Aping the culture of others will not only lead to erosion of identity and values, said KCP (MC) and added that it is important that the people be made conscious of their culture so that they may assert their identity and realise the differences.
KCP (MC) will leave no stone unturned to root out the alien culture such as wearing kurta pyjama, churidar, sherwani, sari, playing the harmonium during religious occasions, culture of smearing aber, chanting of Slokas in Sanskrit, mangal sutra, etc, added the statement.
The theory of the clash between the haves and have nots as espoused by Karl Marx, may not be that suitable in the context of Manipur, observed the outfit.
Religion, ethnicity.
culture etc play are important components of any revolutionary movement, said the outfit and added that the theory of the emergence of the capitalists and the proletarian as distinct classes which will ultimately lead to a revolution by the proletariat and pave for a socialist State may not be applicable here, said Paikhomba and explained that the battle in Manipur is to win the freedom that was snatched away in 1949 by an alien power.
Pledging to protect the distinct identity and culture of the people, the outfit set November 25 as the deadline for the people to stop Sanskritisation or the use of Sanskrit in any occasion such as on the invitation card for Mapam Chakkouba.
The KCP (MC) has also decided to ban the use of kurta pyjama, sherwani, lehenga and sari, added the statement.
All invitations for Sorat must use the word Sorat and not any other term, it said and added that KCP (MC) respects human rights, but will not brook any attempt to break its code.
