Imphal, September 09 2012:
As no company qualified for the tender called for construction of a composite check post at Moreh under the Ministry of Home Affairs, a second tender would be called anew.
Incidentally, both the State Government and Central Government are pinning high hopes on the composite check post to boost the Indo-Myanmar border trade.
Tender bids were received from Manipur Tribal Development Corporation, MANIDCO and Avantika Company at the first call, informed a source.
However, all the three agencies did not qualify for the tender.
As such, the authority has initiated due process to call a new tender for the second time.
After the project was reviewed by the Home Ministry, it was handed over to the Land Ports Authority of India.
Subsequently, it was decided in New Delhi a few days back to float the tender anew.
The State Government has already acquired 82 acres for the composite check post and the plot has been entrusted to Assam Rifles.
Meanwhile, a team of the Ministry of Road Transport has left for Myanmar after the eastern neighbour convened a meeting on the proposed Imphal-Mandalay bus service.
