Two candidates including Dr Nara of CPI filed their nomination papers today to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha election from the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency.Dr Nara handed over his nomination paper to the Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West who is also the Returning Officer at the latter's office at around 2.30 pm today.
While coming to submit his nomination paper, Dr Nara was accompanied by Health Minister Ph Parijat, MANIDCO Chairman and MLA N Mangi and other party workers of CPI Manipur State unit.

Other than Dr Nara, Nongmaithem Homendro of Sagolband Salam Leikai also submitted his nomination to the Returning Officer to contest in the election as an Independent candidate.
Till today, three aspiring candidates have filed their nominations to contest for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary seat.
Earlier A Rahman, who is a retired IPS officer had submitted his nomination paper to contest in the election.
Talking to mediapersons at the office complex of Imphal West DC after submitting his nomination, Dr Nara said Congress candidate is going to his nearest rival.
In response to a question, Dr Nara said that he wished that the 15th Lok Sabha election would be conducted in a free and fair and peaceful manner.
People of Lilong who support the CPI have given the assurance that they would not only take any money in this election but would also not allow anybody to come with the intention of bribing the voters as they feel that it is not the money but electing an able representative which is more important, Dr Nara said, adding that this is significant change in the mindset of the voters.
Calling upon the voters to come out and exercise their franchise, Dr Nara said that public should be vigilant in ensuring free and fair conduct of the election.
Dr Nara assured that he would take up the issues of Manipur for discussion in the Parliament he is elected.
Among the issues of Manipur, Armed Forces Special Powers Act is one of the most important issues, Dr Nara said, adding that he would also try to initiate steps for holding political dialogue to end the problem of insurgency in the State.
