Distribution of relief materials to the people displaced by the "Operation Summer Storm" and taking refuge at various relief camps opened by civil organizations continued today also by various NGOs and district authorities.
Meanwhile, the displaced people have expressed fear of possible condition of the Sangai deer amidst woos, they are facing after they left their homesteads owing to the military operation to flush out militants from the Loktak lake areas.
Apart from providing relief materials by the Bishnupur district authority to the displaced people, the All Manipur NGO Partners' Consortium on HIV/AIDS also distributed various edible items to the people taking refuge at the relief camps.
Volunteers of the consortium went to the relief camps at Khordak Echin, Arong Khunjao and Laphupat Tera Khunou.
Rice, dal, potato, edible oil, salt and tea are among the items distributed by the NGOs.
On the other hand, DC, Bishnupur district, K Panmei today said that the district administration has distributed relief materials to the relief camps at Ethai Khunjao, Tera Khunou, Arong Khunjao and Khordhak.
In a briefing at his office chamber, the DC said they have distributed 30 quintals of rice, 100 litres of kerosene oil, 100 kg of dal, two bags of salt, three bags of potato, two tin of edible oil, 60 mosquito nets.
Apart from this, 10 low cost toilets have also been built.
Breezing powder for making supply of safe drinking water also distributed to protect the 708 people taking refuge there from water born diseases, K Panmei said adding that same materials were also distributed to the relief camps opened at Laphupat Tera in Imphal west district.
A total of 313 are taking shelter at the relief camp there which was opened by the local club volunteers.
Twenty quintals of rice, 16 mosquito nets have been given to them, he observed.
Another 50 quintals of rice, 16 mosquito net were also given to the relief camp at Salam where 490 displaced people are taking shelter, he added.
