Anti-graft drive by DESAM

Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has today launched a year-long Statewide anti-corruption campaign in the State.
As a part of its anti-graft campaign, volunteers and members of the students' organisation took out a cycle rally within Imphal Municipal area today.
The cycle rally was flagged off by DESAM President Wangmayum Islauddin from its Keishampat head office.
The rally, which was held with the theme 'Act against Corruption' passed through Kwakeithel, Khagempalli road, Singjamei, Babupara, Palace Compound, Minuthong and finally converged at DESAM Office.
Participants of the rally carried and displayed placards reading 'Anti-corruption starts from You,' 'We can stop corruption,' 'Corruption is more dangerous than our enemy,' 'Be honest and fight corruption,' 'Corruption will never bring any development,' 'Do away with corruption for the prosperity of posterity,' 'Stop corruption lest we perish,' etc.
Addressing a press meet later, advisor of DESAM, LC Santosh said corruption has become an inevitable social evil now.
It has made its mighty presence everywhere from implementation of developmental works to job recruitment and consequently no good road is constructed.
The year-long campaign has been launched today (Dec 9) to coincide with Anti-Corruption Day which is observed worldwide, Santosh said.
Holding symposium, debate, painting competition, street corner meeting, etc would be the highlights of the year-long campaign, LC Santosh said while adding the target group would be students.
