Imphal, November 07 2011:
A book titled "Khulmi ? Chinlung, Hurpi, Khol, Khul, Khur, Sinlung: Beyond Identity and Political Crises" by Dr.Joseph Suantak was released today at a function at Hotel Classic, Imphal organized by Manipur University Eimi Welfare society (MUEWS) .
The book contains seven chapters.
In this work, grounding on recent scientific findings of world renowned social and human genetic scientists, the origin of the 'Khul' people who are now identified as Chin, Kuki, Mizo and Zomi; and, even Naga since recent past is investigated and thus it contends that they dominated and roamed the present day Indo-Bangla-Myanmar borders long time ago.
The hypotheses of the book say that perhaps, they are the "unidentified indigenous people" during (of) the Old Stone Age in these regions.
It is believed that one among the "Kirastas" or "Cin", the pre-Dravadians mentioned in the ancient Vedic literatures and inscriptions in India, says the synopsis of the book.
In his work, Dr.Joseph further says tentatively, "The Races of Man and their distribution" (1909), A.C.Haddon had already suggested that an ancient pre-Dravadian type is found strong among the Kuki, Khasi, Manipuri, Kachari, etc.
but weaker among the Naga tribes.
In a nutshell, this work, with an expectation to revive the once oneness, mainly concerned with the relations of the tradition and genealogy of the Khul people or Chin, Kuki and Zo people particularly, of Manipur who were once collectively nomenclated as Kukis, say the synopsis of the book.
The book releasing function was attended by MLA Thangkholun Haokip, Dr.Caroline Ngailiankim, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, Manipur University, Thangjamang Lhouvum, Assistant Professor, Manipur University and Chairman, Manipur University Eimi Welfare Society (NUEWS) .
