Lamka, July 31 2014:
In connection with the killing of its Defence Director K Nengzamuan at B Vengnuam, Tuibuong village in Churachandpur district on July 28 last, Zomi Revolutionary Front (ZRF), the armed wing of Kuki National Organization (KNO), denounced the failure of the security forces to thwart such unwanted incidents.
While security forces were beefed up in and around Churachandpur town during day and night, how could the five Zomi Revolutionary Army cadres armed with five AK rifles treacherously killed K Nengzamuan, the ZRF questioned.
It further queried how the ZRA cadres possessed arms in Churachandpur town against the SoO ground rules.
"No wonder the security forces made a quick as well as easy way in seizing the HK-33 and 9mm pistol located locked safely in almirah by a senior KNO leader, while it seemingly turned a blind eye on the movement of a Gypsy vehicle with loaded arms", ZRF rididuled.
The ZRF pointed out that the SoO agreement signed on August 22, 2008 included deposit of arms at respective designated camps and prohibition of killings.
Whether the government solely granted the ZRA cadres the right to possess arms and ammunitions, and to strike and kill at will, ZRF wondered, and condemned the brutal murder of their colleague K Nengzamuan who was sleeping with his innocent son on the night of July 28 .
ZRF further recalled that his wife of slain K Nengzamuan and their four children were shooed off from their residence at Zion Veng, New Lamka in January 2013 by ZRA after seizing his vehicle.
The seized vehicle is now being used by the so called town commander of the ZRA for his own purpose, ZRF added.
