Miscreants burn Tata Sumo

Unknown miscreants last night around 11.30 pm torched a Tata Sumo near Thamnapokpi.
The incident occurred when the Tata Sumo was spending the night at the place near Thamnapokpi along with two Bolero and five other Tata Sumo vehicles.
Out of nowhere, eight armed man faces covered with scarfs approached them and asked the drivers to get off from the vehicles and torched the vehicle.
The driver of the ill fated vehicle, Khumukcham Nimai (35) son of Kakching Khunou currently residing in Uripok said that the miscreants fled the scene after torching his vehicle.
When they finally managed to douse off the fire, more than half of the vehicle was already burnt.
He was carrying onions and apples worth Rs 3 lakh in his vehicle.
He was ferrying the goods for one Oinam ongbi Thoibi of New Chekkon.
Meanwhile, Tengnoupal Police registered a case regarding the incident and collected the vehicle from the spot.
At the sametime, blocakde supporters of UNC were reported to be checking vehicles along the Imphal-Moreh road for goods.
