With over Rs 11 lakh sale proceed, the seven day long Farmers' Clusters Production Exhibition cum Sale Fair concluded at GM Hall premises today.
The fair was organised jointly by the Manipur Rural Bank, Porompat Branch and People's Development Society, New Checkon under the sponsorship of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NBARD), Regional Office, Imphal.
In the fair around 33 stalls of crops, fruits and vegetables produced by the farmers of the state Rs 11,13,086 were sold, according to the organizers.
Top Dusara West Farmers' Co-operative Society, Top Awang Leikai and the Farmers' Interested Club, Uyumpok jointly won the first position in the competition among the stalls for best production and Shilleima Farmers' Club, Thambalkhong, Farmers' Club, Leiphrakpam jointly secured the second position.
Speaking as chief guest of the function, chairman of the Institute of Cooperative Management observed that till farmers are put up in a respectable level in the society, state will not able to produce sustainable food for its own.
He also expressed the need for holding such fairs as part of encouraging the farmers.
