Imphal, August 06 2009:
Extrajudicial Execution Victims Families' Association (EEVFA) has demanded the institution of judicial inquiry into all cases of extrajudicial killings and punished the personnel found guilty.
Talking to reporters today at the association's office located at Singjamei Oinam Thingel, founder member cum spokesperson of the association, L Sarat said as the Chief Minister admits that the Khwairamband incident of July 23 was a fake encounter, and orders a judicial inquiry into the incident, the government should institute judicial inquiry into such kind of killings carried out earlier.
He said judicial inquiry should be done by cancelling all magisterial and departmental inquiries that have been instituted in some cases.
He said the Khwairamband incident was not the first instance of fake encounter.
Fake encounters happened umpteen times.
But 'fortunately,' the report and photos run by Tehelka has impelled the government to admit it and order judicial probe.
Pointing out that L Satish and L Shyamkumar of Singjamei were also killed in fake encounters, the spokesperson said the government did not pay attention to the living witness in the case of L Satish.
He also demanded that all fake encounter killings should be probed in order to establish the truth like the government did in the case of Khwairamband incident.
