VIPs, traffic jams, shortage of traffic manpower and construction personnel without machineries are some of the chief problems that need to be addressed to make plying on the Jotsoma by-pass smoother, local village authorities said today.
The Jotsoma Village Council, GBs and Jotsoma Youth Organization visited the crucial Jotsoma by-pass road and regulate the traffic, August 27.The council also recommended 'no special treatment' for VIPs and security personnel using the passage.
The Jotsoma council has suggested strict timings for VIPs and security personnel to use the lifeline for Kohima.
"It is suggested that there should be a strict timing for up and down vehicles and no special treatment for the VIPs and the Security personnel be allowed," it stated.
The condition of the road is still "horrible" and commuters have to wait for hours to pass through.
However, a note from the council said today, although the roads are small and bad, traffic flow could have been smoother "if all the commuters cooperate with the police and the regulators." There are some few places where vehicles cannot cross each other and by allowing even one vehicle from the wrong direction, traffic jams start from one point to another, the council said, and 'everyone have to wait for hours.' for the day," it added.
