Imphal, July 24 2009:
Three activists of the KCP (MC) who allegedly came to extort money from the general public were apprehended by a combined team of Thoubal police commandos and troops of 34 Assam Rifles from Yairipok Leirongthel area on Wednesday (July 22) last.
The apprehended activists were identified as Asheibam Nanao (32) son of A Chuthe of Andro Khoibu Siphai, Ning-thoujam Sunil (23) son of N Ibungo of Yairipok Top Chingtha and Thangjam Premjit (29) son of Khamba of same village with the second one.
Police report said that the combined team who rushed to the place on getting information that some KCP(MC) activists are coming to collect money from the area on Wednesday last around 1.30 pm from Yairipok Lairongthel area under Yairipok police station.
When the team rushed to the village, the three activists run away in a bid to escape.
From the apprehended activists, the combined force recovered a 9 mm pistol, three demand letters of the KCP(MC) group.
However, in the demand no particular description on to who they are going to served money and the amount they to made demand were not written, but seals of district commander KCP(MC) stamped on it, report added.
The three are in the custody of the Yairipok police after handed over by the combined team, it further said.
