'Govt working on Tourism Policy'

Imphal, July 13 2012:
Chief Minister O Ibobi told the House today that the government is working on an effective Manipur Tourism Policy.
Giving reply to a question raised by MLA Th Bishwarjit during the question hour, Chief Minister Ibobi said that the government is drafting the Manipur Tourism Policy.
In 2010-11 alone, 431 foreign tourists visited Manipur and the figure increased to 602 in 2011-12.In reply to a question by MLA K Meghachandra, the CM told the House that there are 234 River Lift Irrigation Schemes in the state under the Minor Irrigation Department but only 13 of them are in working condition.
At present there is no policy to supply inadequate water for irrigation to the farmers of the state.
Home Minister Gaikhangam while replying a question of MLA Nemcha Kipgen said that investigation is being carried out against the four persons including two IRB personnel who gang-raped a woman.
The investigation is expected to be over soon and the accused persons would be awarded befitting legal punishments.
