Imphal, April 08 2009:
Independent candidate for outer Manipur constituency in the coming general election, Lamlalmoi (Momoi) Gangte mesmerises voters of outer Manipur Parliamentary constituency by promising them various aspirations of the people and their needs will be addressed, if he is elected, during his election campaigns at various places of the state since a few days back.
To narrow the gap between the poor and the rich by uplifting the downtrodden section, to speak in the Parliament and pressurise local issues like territorial integrity of Manipur, AFSPA, communal harmony, etc, and to pressurise the ECI to solve the electoral problem of seven ACs of Thoubal and Jiribam AC, are some of the promises he made to the voters during his campaign trails which began on April 5 last, according to a press release issued by S Hemjang Haokip, chief campaigner for Lamlalmoi.
Seven meetings had been held in Khangabok AC on April 5, three meetings were held on April 6 in Wangjing area of Thoubal district which were attended by large number of people, the statement said.
It said that a public meeting was also held in Langathel area attracting large crowds on April 7.He had also held talks with villagers from Henglep, Kangpokpi, Saitu and Saikot ACs and got overwhelming response.
Lamlalmoi assures he will be able to fight for the cause of Manipur to the hilt as an Independent candidate in the absence higher party authority to control him in case he is elected while also reasoning that now is the time for young Turks in the political arena, the release conveyed.
He also raised suspicion that other Kuki candidates like LB Sona, Thangkhangin Ngaihte and Thangso Baite all within the Zomi Council which shares close relations with the Nagas could be dummy candidates for the Naga candidate, Mani Charenamei and others, the release said.
The release further said that some people in the outer constituency have chanted "Moi Gangte-Barrack Obama of Manipur" during his campaigns.
