THE BLUE Dart Express Private Limited, Manipur branch has been closed down by suspected militants operating in the state over monetary demand, giving hard time for customers using the service.
According to the employees of the courier service, the office of the Blue Dart located at Hotel Nirmala, Mahatma Gandhi (MG) avenue in Imphal West was closed down by about seven men on the evening of November 6 without any warning, forcing the courier service to stop their service since then.
However, it could not be confirmed who are behind the activities as the officials failed to comment on the amount served and by whom.
Further the sources revealed that the services might likely resume in a short period as negotiation is being underway with the extortionist.
Reliable sources however revealed that the amount served to the courier service is about four lakh rupees.
Meanwhile, the closure of the courier service is giving a hard time to the customers.
According to one Krishna, an employee of social welfare department, closure of such international postal company is not only a loss for the company but also for the people of the state and students studying abroad.
