Failure on the part of a government employee to appear inspite of repeated summons, a local court here directed the police to arrest him and produce him in court.
The source said that Md Alliyas Ali alias Manou, peon of the Maxwell Bhairondan High School, MG Avenue was summoned by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West in connection with a case registered against him by the court regarding non-repayment of loan taken by him from the State Bank of India (SBI), Imphal Branch.
The court had taken up the case on receipt of a petition filed by an assistant teacher of the same school, Thingnam Kananbala Devi.
In her petition, Kananbala alleged that Alliyas availed a housing loan of ' 1,51,563 in October, 2004 .
She said that she stood as his guarantor but he has failed to repay the loan.
The bank authority has now asked her to pay the loan amount with interest totalling ' 1,86,479 as per term and condition of the loan agreement.
She has to pay the amount with an interest of 9.75% per annum effective from January 1, 2007 till the repayment of the entire claimed amount is completed.
After admitting the petition, the court summoned Alliyas repeatedly but he failed to appear before the court.
Imphal City police after registering a case against the peon is now said to arrest him, a police officer said.
