While the traffic along the Indo-Myanmar section of the NH-39 continued to disturb Thursday for the second day with residents of Kakwa protesting against the shooting to kill a local youth by the security forces in alleged encounter, locals of Sekmaijin in Thoubal district blocked the Mayai Lambi road (state highway) decrying the killing of the another youth by the security forces on March 23 night.
A youth slain in the hand of a combined force of Thouba police commandos and troops of Assam Rifles on the night of March 23 last at Tonsen Lamkhai under Sugnu police station of Thoubal district was identified today as one Noabi of Sekmaijin by the family.
Even as police claimed that he was an underground and killed in an encounter with the recovery of a 9 mm pistol with some rounds of ammunitions, family and villagers of Sekmaijin where the slain youth hailed rose up decrying that the youth was an underground and alleging that he was killed in "fake encounter".
Villagers took to the streets along the Mayai Lambi connecting Imphal with western side of the Thoubal district and also used as diversion road of the Indo-Myanmar section of the NH-39 at Kakching in case there is disturbances of any kind of the highway portion.
All kinds of vehicles including passenger buses were blocked from passing through the Sekmaijin area by the protestors.
They are demanding justice in the killing of the village youth and also refused to receive the dead body which has been lying at RIMS morgue since police deposited on the next of the killing him.
Normal traffic on the Indo-Myanmar section of the NH-39 disturbed for the second day today as irate residents of Kakwa continued blocking the road protesting against killing of a local youth by the security force allegedly after picked from his way to Manipur University on March 24 last.
Mention may be made that the youth named Thuodam Shantikumar (22) son of Ibochouba was gunned down by a combined force of Imphal west police commandos and troops of 16 Maratha Li at Tairenpokpi village under Lamshang police station of Imphal west in the evening of March 24. Even though police said, he was a KYKL cadre and killed during a gun fight with the combined force claimed recovery of an AK-47 rifles loaded with 15 live rounds of ammunitions.
A member of the JAC formed in connection with the killing and spearheading protest by blocking the NH-39 strongly denied the claimed of the police that the slain youth joined the ban out in the year 2002, said that at that time he was studying only Standard-VIII and going school as kid.
He, however, maintained that the elder brother of the slain youth is an activist of the outfit and he failed to back home since the joining to the outfit.
The dead body of Shantikumar is still lying at RIMS morgue -after the family refused to accept the dead body.
