KOHIMA, February 16, 2010: (NEPS):
State Home Minister Imkong L Imchen has said he has no doubt in the integrity of the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram and Union Home Secretary, GK Pillai as far as Naga political issue is concerned.
Talking to NEPS here on Tuesday, the Minister said Prime Minister Singh, Union Home Minister Chidambaram and Union Home Secretary Pillai were sincere towards finding solution to the protracted Naga political issue.
He said these Central leaders were making concerted efforts to solve the longstanding Naga political issue.
Besides they are old hands on various issues including ours (Naga issue), he said.
Stating that it was good time for the Nagas, Imchen urged the Naga people not to miss the opportunity to find solution to their problem when they had such leaders at the Centre.
But the most important factor was while taking such an opportunity, they should also sincerely work to frame a Common agenda to be the basis for political negotiation with the Government of India, he stressed.
Because, he further explained, there could not be separate solutions for each group.
There can be only one solution once and for all, he asserted adding, I dont think the Government of India will go for separate settlements with each group.
The Minister further elucidated that everyonewhether it is Government machinery or NGO or each citizen---should contribute theirs to the wisdom of the Naga national workers in order to frame a comprehensive common agenda.
On Muivahs comment that participation by non-mandated groups in the talks for settlement of the issue would only dilute what has been achieved in the talks so far, the Minister refused to comment on what he (Muibah) said but explained that the Government of India was interested to settle the issue once and for all.
But not for separate settlements with separate groups, he averred.
On the upcoming talks between the Government of India and the NSCN-IM in the month of April, Imchen stated he did not like to speculate on the nature of talks.
Only I can say is one has to be optimistic, he said.
