Formulation of a National policy on protection of Sangai on the line of the Central Govt's National Project on conservation of tigers has been mooted during the meeting of Northeastern and Himalayan State members of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) at Guwahati recently.
Disclosing this to The Sangai Express today, convenor of INTACH Manipur chapter Dr RK Ranjan said a proposal on formulation of a National policy to protect the endangered species (Sangai deer) found only Manipur was tabled during the meeting.
For the conservation of Keibul Lamjao National Park, which is home of the Sangai, the proposal mooted for a Vision 2020 and upgrading the park to the status of a world heritage site.
Accordingly, the meeting took up the discussion on constituting a task force to implement these points, Dr Ranjan informed.
