Imphal, February 27 2009:
SP capsules (Spamo proxy-bon) worth around Rs 1.5 lakh has been seized by a team of the Imphal east police commandos today from five persons during a drive at Keshetrigao area, police said today.
The contraband item (around 30,000 strips) was seized during the drive of the police commandos which was conducted starting from 8.30 pm yesterday till around 8.30 am.
The five persons were also rounded up during the drive, informed the Imphal east district SP, Th Radeshyam today.
Some of the SP-tablets was discovered from concealing underneath the earth by the police personnel.
The five men picked up with the tablets were identified as Md Hyder Ali (51) son of Md Mulak Ali of Kshetrigao Yumkhaibam Leikai, Md Kalam (38) son of late Siraj Ahmad of Kshetrigao Makha Leikai, Md Eju (45) son of late Md Jamba Ali, Md Naosab (18) son of Md Babu and Md Sony (22) son of Md Nasib of Thambalkhong.
Radheshyam while interaction with the media persons at his office chamber observed the drug abuse is one of the social problems in the state.
He also said that his personnel conducted the drive considering the impact of drug abuse getting by the state with the objective of saving the future life of the youths of the state.
