Imphal, April 15 2009:
Former Union Minister and the MDA common candidate in Inner Manipur for the 15 th Lok Sabha elections, Thounaojam Chaoba today charged the Chief Minister of violating the election Code of Conduct by calling voters in his bungalow and organising election campaign.
Addressing election rallies today at various places including Kongjengbam Leikai Youth Council Manipur under Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC, Kakwa Community Hall and Singjamei Waikhom Leikai Social Development Organisation ground in Singjamei constituency, Th Chaoba said that Congress has carried out various programmes to woo voters by spending large amount of public money.
He urged the people to claim their money and cast vote in favour of Cycle symbol.
Chaoba said that the present situation of wailing and crying against killings is the feat of the Congress and the CPI.
He said let the people pay back the Government for killing their husbands and children fittingly by casting votes against the Government.
Chaoba reasons that staging protest sits in, forming JACs, and calling strikes will not be momentous.
By doing so, the government will not hear the cries and it will only bounce back with rubber bullets, tear gas, etc to disperse the people.
Chaoba said, the people must therefore chastise the government in voting.
The MPP candidate also urged the people not to attend the election meetings of the Congress and the CPI.
He asked why the CPI has been loyally clinching the government if it thinks that the party is pro-poor, pro-farmers while also pleading the people to teach them befitting lessons.
He also asks why Dr Nara, a person from outer Manipur is contesting elections in the inner constituency.
MLA Dr I Ibohanbi said that the Congress candidate Dr T Meinya and CPI candidate, Dr M Nara will never be able to get a single vote in Bishnupur district.
He said Dr Meinya was incapable to respond the speech of Mani Charenamei in the Parliament when he raised the issue of Naga integration.
Dr Ibohanbi also indicted that the staged encounters wherein a number of people have been killed were the works of the Government.
He reasoned that the hand of SPF Convenor Dr Nara was not involved in the attempt to include all the seven constituencies of Bishnupur in the Outer Manipur constituency cannot be ruled out.
It is pertinent to mention here that similar election meeting was also held yesterday at Langdum under Keirao AC which was attended by Th Chaoba, Dr Nimaichand Luwang, MPP's Youth Front Working President, Manihar Luwang.
Around 2000 people had reportedly participated in the meeting.
MPP President, Dr L Chandramani, MPP's Legislature Wing Leader, O Joy, party spokesperson RK Anand, Dr Ng Bijoy, various NCP workers, and Chanura Lup (Women's Wing) workers of the MPP have attended today's meetings.
