National seminar on Muslims' status

A one-day national seminar on 'Opportunities and Challenges of Muslims in Manipur' was organised by All Manipur Muslims (Meitei Pangals) Welfare Association at Classic Hotel today.
Inaugurating the seminar as the chief guest, Agriculture Minister Md Abdul Nasir in his address called upon the muslim intellectual circle and scholars for maximum contributions towards promoting quality education of the Muslim community.
Expressing confidence that the seminar will bring out positive recommendations for the overall welfare of the minority community, he conceded that there is still need for concerted efforts from all concerned on reservation rights.
Commenting that it is the bounden duty of Muslim legislators to ensure socio-economic development of the Muslim people, Minister Nasir also emphasised that NGOs should initiate awareness campaigns to highlight as well as note plight of the people.
Among others Parliamentary Secretary for MOBC & SC and Science & Technology Md Amin Shah, Wabagai AC MLA Md Fajur Rahman, Manipur State Minorities Commission Chairman A Halim Choudhury and president of seminar host Prof MA Janab Khan also attended the seminar.
As resource persons, Md Ziaur Rahman, Md Abdul Gaffar, Md Ahmed Ali Shah, Moulana Abdur Rahman, Md Riyas Sheikh and MA Salam elaborated on issues related to socio-economic, political and educational status of the Muslims of Manipur.
