Imphal, December 01 2010:
Political parties in Manipur Wednesday came down heavily on the reported 'arrest' of UNLF chairman, RK Meghen from Bihar's Motihari yesterday, which many news agencies filed late last night quoting official versions.
Mention may be made that after the BBC filed a report of the arrest of RK Meghen from Dhaka by a combined team of RAW and its counterparts Bangladesh intelligence which the UNLF affirmed by saying that their chairman was arrested on September 29 .
The UNLF had even given the registration number of Meghen's car as Dhaka Metro G-17-0716 pointing out that he was abducted from Lalmatia area under Mohammadpur police station around 12.30 pm on September 29 .
Manipur People Party (MPP) president Dr Nimaichand Luwang asserted that it was due to strong pressure from the people and opposition political parties that led the Central government to tell a lie and stage manage an arrest of the UNLF leader.
He also pointed out the involvement of the Congress led SPF government in the state in the "big plot".
This showed that the ruling Congress led UPA government has suffered another setback in dealing with the people of Manipur.

The incident has showed that the Centre still looks down upon the people of the state.
He also demanded that Meghen should be treated as a political prisoner if the Centre wanted to stop further escalation of insurgency in the state.
Shantikumar also hinted that there might be a hidden agenda of the Centre behind the drama of the staged manage arrest of the UNLF chairman.
CPI, Manipur State Council has also strongly decried the move of the Central government observing that the latest report of Meghen's arrest has put the people of Manipur in confusion.
Centre should make a clarification in this regard, CPI state secretary Langol Iboyaima demanded.
