Probe initiated against complaint of adulterated rice

A departmental probe has been initiated to examine the alleged adulteration of rice provided to the Anganwadi centres through Wheat Based Nutrition Programme (WBNP) under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, said Director of Social Welfare Department, G Seityabati.
Talking to media persons, G Seityabati said there has been no godown for stockpiling nutritional items including rice for the department.
As such, items including rice for distribution through Anganwadi centres were issued by the FCI.
There has been no single complain about the adulteration of items that were distributed through BPL rate.
She said a departmental enquiry has been initiated over the complain of adulteration of rice from Laingam Khul Anganwadi Centre under Lam shang CDPO.
The Director herself supervised the field enquiry with several other officials and collected samples of rice issued by the FCI.
It has been learnt that no other centre has complaint about such adulteration.
