A one day convention on HIV/AIDS was held at Charangpat High School today to create awareness to the people of the constituency.
The Wangkhem Block Congress Committee, Yairipok organized the convention in association with the Manipur Legislative Forum on HIV and AIDS.
Speaker, Manipur Legislative Assembly, I Hemochandra and Deputy Speaker Th Lokeshore and MLA Dr I Ibohanbi were the chief guest and guests of honour respectively.
MLA, Wangkhem Assembly Constituency, K Meghacnahdra presided over the convention.
Speaking in the occasion, Hemochandra said that the students should be taught about HIV/AIDS for a healthy society.
He questioned about the meaning of development in the society if all the future generations are dead due to the dreaded disease.
Today, HIV/AIDS is still a major threat to the society.
Every people of the society must aware of the disease and fight against it.
In a speech, MLA K Meghachandra said that there are around 100 people living with HIV/AIDS in the constituency as per the record.
He stressed on the possibility of more people with the disease who are not in the record.
The problem of HIV/AIDS is still a major issue in the state.
Complete awareness about the disease is the only key to protect the society from the threat.
